One of my most frequent thoughts is, "I could probably make that".

I come from an extended family of creators-- we've done everything from sewing, knitting, and crochet to leather crafting, even furniture woodworking and building entire single engine airplanes in the garage. Creating something with my own two hands is in my blood. I've always been a crafter. From friendship bracelets and dream catchers when I was 12, to dabbling in crochet, beading, sewing, scrapbooking, canning, and baking over the years, I've always loved the idea of creating beautiful things from simple materials.

 

With my mom's original crochet hooks from the 1970s in hand, I began my love of yarn craft over a decade ago. Countless scarves and blankets later, crochet just wasn't scratching the itch completely. After teaching myself to knit with the help of chopsticks and YouTube videos, I finally found my true yarn love. Nothing makes me happier than hooks and needles and a skein of yarn. It amazes me that I can create entire winter necessities out of a few pieces of string. But a girl can only knit so many scarves and hats before she runs out of room in the closet and has to start finding them new homes.
